Abstract
Pseudoaneurysms usually occur as a result of blood vessel wall injury. Only a few cases of traumatic pseudoaneurysm have been reported developing in superficial temporal artery (STA). A 79-year-old male patient came to clinic for growing scalp mass after traumatic brain injury, with history of skull base fracture three months prior to admission. The mass was pulsatile with overlying skin ulceration, located on the right parietal area. 3D-head computed tomography angiography was done to evaluate the growing scalp mass. The mass was diagnosed as a partially thrombosed traumatic pseudoaneurysm. Surgical treatment was planned and underwent ligation of STA followed by en-bloc removal of aneurysm. Herein, we report our experience on the rare case of traumatic pseudoaneurysm of STA after skull base fracture which was diagnosed correctly and treated successfully.
